About Ziggy
Zigrid Phillips owns and operates Ziggy’s TLC and has been coaching owners with their dogs for over 12 years. Ziggy’s passion for dogs overrides everything else, and so she developed Ziggy’s TLC as a natural response to her own training experience with me, her beloved Beagle, Jack.
Driven to find a training technique that was effective and totally respecting of me, Ziggy researched until eventually modifying a rewards based training methodology to form her own unique training style.
Ziggy has a great love and respect for dogs and has demonstrated a natural ability to develop rapport. She is known as the “voice for dogs” ™ because of her excellent intuition and her strongly honed understanding of dog behaviour. Through these unique skills she develops exceptionally effective training programs.
Ziggy’s motivation and core beliefs are that:
- Dogs give so much to their human family without expectation of something in return
- Humans often expect dogs to understand them, but they sometimes forget that to do this we all need to learn to communicate with each other
- Human families simply need to be aware and educated in understanding K9 communication and basic needs so humans and dogs can live happily together
- Each dog and their owner have a different relationship and so need to be treated as individuals
- Ziggy holds herself accountable for everything she says and does while coaching you and your dog
Ziggy is a member of the Association of Pet Trainers Australia (APDT) and is a qualified Delta CGC Instructor with a Certificate IV in Dog Behaviour Training and Assessment and Workplace Training.
Prior to working with dogs, Ziggy worked in the child care industry for 15 years. This experience allows Ziggy to teach children through the Dogs + Kids Program using rewards-based training techniques.
